Modeling Week

Modeling week with Rosario was amazing. It really pushed me into thinking about my project in different ways. Modeling out of scraps we could find, food and through a physical presentation was tough but it really made me think about my project. I was initially looking at time and how long things took and how this could be documented. I looked at wasted time and tried to visualize this with some nuts. Do the shells represent the wasted time?

My physical presentation was a live Chinese whisper. I wanted to test how individual interpretations can completely alter an outcome. I performed an experiment in the form of a Chinese whisper. The game simply illustrates how through a series of layers, perception and translation can alter the original. The sentence was ‘a black cat, sat outside as it poured with rain’. Through a series of 25 different layers of perception the original sentence transformed into ‘a Japanese man flew to the UK to enjoy the crane’. The experiment was documented
on film, and it illustrates how one scenario can quickly develop into another, like a rumor. Eye witness testimonies are another example of how individual interpretation can perhaps give an insight into a situation. As each individual represents a layer, it shows how important these are in preserving and compressing the real outcome.
